Description
Stunning face and such soulful eyes...........
I had the most amazing day at The Wild Animal Sanctuary. I always get lost in the moment when I come here for a visit. I spent 4 hours of pure joy.
As I drove up to "The Wild Animal Sanctuary" you can see Grizzly Bears on the left. They were playing with each other, so majestic! I was the 2nd person to arrive. When I parked my car, right in front of me were 3 BIG Grizzly Bears. No picture where taken as they ask you do not stand in front of the animals. I will always respect their rules. When I got out of my car, a pack of Wolves were howling away. I knew this was going to be another fabulous visit, I would never forget. Nothing beats the experience of the walkway. Hearing Lions roar was truly amazing, When I started up the walkway, I stopped right in my tracks. Oh, what a beauty. I was so very lucky he looked at me, as the animals here do not usually look up! I'm so glad I had my camera ready. Look at his EYES! Stunning. What a fantastic organization. The animals seem so happy and content, with plenty of space to roam. I will be back!
Colorado's Wild Animal Sanctuary Recognized as one of Top 5 Animal & Wildlife Welfare Organizations in the World.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is the oldest and largest nonprofit Sanctuary in the US dedicated exclusively to rescuing captive exotic and endangered large carnivores, providing them with a wonderful life for as long as they live, and educating about the tragic plight faced by an estimated 30,000 such animals in America today.
Established by Executive Director Pat Craig in 1980, Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center, DBA The Wild Animal Sanctuary, is a state and federally licensed zoological facility and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Originally started on Pat's family farm outside Boulder, CO, TWAS soon moved to Lyons, CO, where there was more room for the animals, and to provide for future expansion. After eight years in that location, TWAS was forced to move again due to a limestone quarry moving in nearby. The Sanctuary currently sits on 720 acres 50 miles east of Boulder. There is plenty of space for the animals 21 large acreage habitats, along with room to grow while still maintaining large grassland buffers.
TWAS is located near Keenesburg, Colorado.
I'm not one to go to zoo's as I do not agree with what happens there, but oh, how I love this Wild Animal Sanctuary and everything they stand for. They save animals from all over the world. I just adore this place. If you are ever in the Denver, Colorado area, this is a must to see.
Every print I sell in my gallery, a portion of my proceeds will be donated to Animal Rescue

What a beautiful shot Fiona of a very big cat...I am planning on going to this sanctuary, hopefully this fall.
Fiona Kennard replied:
Thank you very much, Webb....You will love this sanctuary as much as I do. Try and go when they first open up which is 9am. If you are lucky enough you will catch them on a day they are feeding and they do this first thing in the morning. The animals come in really close when food is around. It is amazing to watch. I love this place. They rescue animals from all over the world. It is a fabulous place.

I love it! I never promote pictures from Zoo´s, so i wasn't even gonna click on this one. But then i read your description, and i love it. I hope you sell many, many pieces so both you, and the sanctuary, can get money! L/F
Fiona Kennard replied:
Oh, Nicklas....I know what you mean. I do not care for Zoo's either and what they stand for. I'm so glad you clicked on my photograph and read all about this wonderful, caring sanctuary. I hope I sell this photo too, I'm all for helping places that truly care about animals and "The Wild Animal Sanctuary" loves their animals. They rescue animals from all over the world. Love, Love, Love this place. I get so lost in the moment when I visit here. Thank you for your lovely comment.
